Domestic Abuse Case Against Odia Actor Riya Dey & Husband Shifted To Cuttack Police Station

Cuttack: The case of torture of house caretaker by Odia actress Riya Dey and her husband has been shifted to Bidanasi police station in Cuttack.

The victim had filed the complaint against Riya and her husband Sunil at Chandrasekharpur police station in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Speaking to media, Additional DCP of Commissionerate Police Anil Mishra said a case has been registered against Riya and Sunil under various charges at Bidanasi police station. The police would ascertain the age of the victim and record her statement, he added.

The caretaker, in her complaint, alleged that the actor and her husband subjected her to domestic violence. The couple often locked her in their house at Mahanadi Vihar in Cuttack besides physically and mentally torturing her. Riya’s husband even hit her with beer bottle in inebriated condition, she alleged.

However, she managed to escape from their house while the couple were not present on Monday. She came to the house of a known person, Madhuri, staying in Chandrasekharpur. As Madhuri’s house was locked, she was crying on a pavement. Some local people saw her and informed the child protection team. The team took the victim to the Chandrasekhar police station on Tuesday to file the complaint.

On Monday, Riya’s husband had filed a complaint at Bidanasi police station stating that their caretaker had gone missing. The police would now investigate into both cases simultaneously, the sources said.
