Bhubaneswar: In a major embarrassment for Balangir royal family of Odisha, Adrija Manjari Singh has levelled domestic violence, dowry torture allegations against her husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo and in-laws.
According to sources, Adrija recently met Uttrakhand Director General of Police (DGP) when no action was taken on her complaint. The case has now been handed over to Dehradun Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Local media in Dehradun reported that Adrija even claimed that her husband, who is the son of BJD leader & former minister Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, had once attempted to have her killed by a contract killer.
“My husband sought divorce from me in August 2022. On September 30, 2022, I filed a complaint at Rajpur police station against my father-in-law Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, my brother-in-law Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, my mother-in-law Bijayalaxmi Devi, Meghna Rana and my husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo. They wanted me out of their house and stopped my entry to Odisha,” said Adrija.
“I was abused and my movement was monitored by guards with a camera pointing towards my room, invading my privacy,” she added.
She has sought police protection citing threat to her life.
Adrija, who is the granddaughter of former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, is currently living in Uttarakhand with her family members.
Arkesh, however, has refuted the allegations. “The allegations are false. The matter is currently sub-judice and I have complete faith on the judiciary,” he said.
The duo had got married in a glittering ceremony in the winter of November 2017.
