Washington: Justifying US’s exit from the landmark Paris climate agreement, President Donald Trump accused China, India and Russia of not taking care of their “filthy air”.
“Look at China, how filthy it is. Look at Russia. Look at India. The air is filthy,” Trump was quoted by news agency PTI during the final presidential debate with his Democratic challenger Joe Biden in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I walked out of the Paris Accord as we had to take out trillions of dollars and we were treated very unfairly,” he was quoted in response to a question on climate change.
Trump has repeatedly blamed India and China for not doing enough on climate change and labelled them as regions with air that is impossible to breathe.
Trump pulled the US out of the 2015 Paris climate agreement in 2017. He had said that the international deal to keep global temperatures rises below 2 degree Celsius was disadvantageous to US workers, according to PTI.
