Washington: US President Donald Trump unleashed a threat on Tuesday to veto a budget bill of the Pentagon. The threat came at a time when the House was prepared to vote on spending blueprint which has support from both parties, reported AFP.
“I hope House Republicans will vote against the very weak National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which I will VETO,” Trump, who is scheduled to leave office on January 20, tweeted using the formal name of the legislation.
The House of Representatives was to vote the $740 billion budget for 2021 on Tuesday afternoon, which was then scheduled to go Senate in the next few days. However, it needs Trump’s signature to be a law.
Both chambers pledged more than two-third support for separate versions of the bill in July. That would be a so-called “super majority” big enough to override a Trump veto, the agency report said.
