Washington: US President Donald Trump lifted a ban on people travelling from much of Europe and Brazil, with effect from January 26, following the US’ recent announcement that all incoming air passengers will need a negative COVID-19 test before departure.
“This action is the best way to continue protecting Americans from COVID-19 while enabling travel to resume safely,” Trump said via a statement released by the White House, reported news agency AFP.
However, travel bans will remain in place for China and Iran.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declared last Tuesday that all US-bound air passengers are required to test COVID-19 negative within three days of their departure.
