USA President Donald Trump could be the latest victim of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The President had met a top official from Brazil last Saturday, who has since tested positive for the virus.
A widely circulated image on Twitter shows Trump, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s communications chief Fabio Wajngarten, and Vice President Mike Pence holding a “Make Brazil Great Again” hat.
Fabio has tested positive of COVID-19.
Some medical experts believe Trump should ‘self-quarantine’ as a precaution. However, the President has been seen meeting Congressmen and even voters during a campaign trail. Some believe he’s putting others at risk by doing so.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says self-quarantine is one of the most effective methods of stopping a large outbreak. It is defined as “The separation of a person or group of people reasonably believed to have been exposed to a communicable disease but not yet symptomatic, from others who have not been so exposed, to prevent the possible spread of the communicable disease.”
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said that “Exposures from the case are being assessed” but Trump and Mike Pence “had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time.”
