This was the first conversation between the two leaders this year, having last interacted on December 11.
Trump’s call came shortly after he made India-focused posts on his social media platform Truth Social.
The US President shared a photograph of New Delhi’s India Gate, with the message, “India’s beautiful triumphal arch, our will be greatest of all.”
Trump’s post is significant as he has plans to build a massive new triumphal arch in Washington DC to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
Trump also shared the cover of India Today magazine’s ‘Newsmakers of the Year 2025’ edition, featuring Modi alongside the US President with the headline ‘The mover & the shaker’.
