Washington: Even as he is having to deal with reciprocal global tariffs, which were recently struck down by the US Supreme Court, Donald Trump is also focused on other issues which have been irking him.
Amid the ongoing battle to acquire Warner Bros Discovery, Netflix has faced Trump’s wrath.
The US President has literally ‘ordered’ the American OTT streaming service platform to fire Susan Rice, one of its Board members, immediately or pay the consequences.
Speaking out about what could happen if the Democrats win the midterm elections, Rice said on a podcast that there would be an “accountability agenda” for companies that evaded regulations under the Trump administration.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social,
Trump wrote, “Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences.”
Launching a personal attack, Trump said Rice “has got no talent or skills – purely a political hack! Her power is gone, and will never be back. How much is she being paid, and for what?”
Netflix is in a bid to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $83 billion. Paramount Skydance is also in the race to acquire the famous studio, reportedly with an offer of $108.4 billion.
Trump also shared a post made on X by far-right activist Laura Loomer, who asked the US President to intervene in the Netflix-Warner Bros merger and kill it.
Trump and Loomer were responding to Rice’s remarks on former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara’s Stay Tuned with Preet podcast.
“If these corporations think that the Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to, you know, play by the old rules, and, you know, say, ‘Oh, never mind. We’ll forgive you for all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you’ve violated, all, you know, the laws you’ve skirted’. I think they’ve got another thing coming,” Rice predicted.
