Beijing: Don’t dare bully China, President Xi Jinping warned the world on Thursday.
China’s rise as a major world power is a “historical inevitability” and it will no longer be “bullied, oppressed or subjugated” by foreign countries, Xi said during an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.
“Anyone who dares to try, will find their heads bashed bloody against a great wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people,” the leader said while addressing a crowd of around 70,000 at Tiananmen Square, reported CNN.
The Chinese Communist Party, founded in Shanghai by a small group of people in July 1921, rose rapidly and monopolized power as it emerged as the world’s second-largest economy.
Xi, who many say is China’s most powerful leader since Mao Zedong, said: “We are now marching in confident strides toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.”
China has been at loggerheads with the US, especially during the Presidentship of Donald Trump, over trade pacts. Over the last year and a half, the world has been accusing China of being the origin of the deadly coronavirus which has wreaked havoc globally. China has steadfastly denied the charge even as there are renewed calls from several countries for a fresh investigation into the origins of coronavirus.
