After Sacred Games, Odia Actor Gives Another Powerful Performance In Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’

Bhubaneswar: Sensitive writing. skilled direction. masterful performances is how critics have described filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’. Netizens are already calling it as Deepika Padukone’s best onscreen performance that depicts the journey real-life acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.

The impressive star cast includes Odia actor Chittaranjan Tripathy, who plays an investigating police officer in the movie and he too is being lauded for giving an excellent performance.

Odisha IAS officer & ICRISAT director Arabinda Padhee tweeted, “The brilliant cast of #Chhapaak includes talented #Odia artist Chittaranjan Tripathy (in the role of investigating Police Inspector). I’d earlier spotted his excellence as a theatre actor in the play, Gunobai along with Pushpa Panda and @samareshroutray.”

Tripathy had earlier won rave reviews for the role of Trivedi in popular web series, Sacred Games. The actor had also played a significant role in ‘Made in China’ starring Rajkummar Rao, Boman Irani and Mouni Roy.

He has also acted in several other films including ‘Delhi 6’, ‘Phantom’,  ‘Shaandar’, ‘Talwar’, ‘Commando 2’, ‘Jagga Jasoos’, ‘Mukkabaaz’, ‘Fukrey Returns’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ and ‘A Gentleman’,.

A theatre actor par excellence, Tripathy is also know for Odia cult movies like Dhauli Express and Mukhyamantri, which he had produced and directed. He is again donning the director’s hat in the upcoming Odia romantic thriller—‘Kuha Mu Tumari Pain.’

A native of Chandbali in Bhadrak district and an alumnus of National School of Drama, he now lives in Andheri West, Mumbai.

The actor had made a comeback in Ollywood with ‘Luv You Jessica’ in 2017 after a gap of nine years and bagged the state award for ‘Best Comedian’. He had also replaced comedian Papu Pom Pom ‘4 Idiots’, which was released on the occasion of ‘Raja’ in 2018 and was also seen in Barsha Priyadarshini starrer ‘Nimki’ and Anubhav Mohanty starrer ‘Prem Kumar’ the following year.

‘Taj Mahal Ka Tender’ a play directed by him in 1998, ran to packed houses for almost 10 years. His Hindi musical short film ‘Courtroom Nautanki’ was screened at International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, in 2010.
