New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the BJP of distributing gold chains in two colonies, claiming that their leaders are openly trying to entice voters ahead of the Delhi polls.
He also appealed to the national capital’s voters not to “sell” their votes under any circumstances. “Those going to their offices and creating an issue are being given the chains to silence them. If you want the chain too, go and get it from their offices. Their leaders are openly saying that they will buy the votes of the people of Delhi. I appeal to the public to take everything that they are distributing but don’t sell your vote… Your vote decides your, your children’s and the country’s future. Don’t vote for anyone who distributes money, jackets, blankets etc…,” he told a presser.
Earlier taking a jibe at the Opposition, Kejriwal tweeted that the Delhi assembly election will witness a “jugalbandi” between the ‘long-time’ alliance of BJP and Congress. He was responding to BJP leader Amit Malviya’s “fight to save the New Delhi seat first” remark on his post, where he mentioned about Rahul Gandhi’ abusing him.
“Today Rahul Gandhi came to Delhi. He abused me a lot. But I will not comment on his statements. His fight is to save Congress, my fight is to save the country,” Kejriwal posted on X after Rahul targeted the AAP leader drawing comparisons with PM Modi for following a “strategy of propaganda and false promises.”
Taking a swipe, the senior BJP leader and the party’s IT head commented, “Worry about the country later, first save the New Delhi seat.”
In a sharp comeback, Kejriwal replied, “Great. I wrote one line about Rahul Gandhi and the response comes from BJP. See, how much BJP is troubled. This Delhi election will probably reveal the years-long partnership between the Congress and the BJP.”
During a rally in Seelampur, Delhi on Monday, Rahul Gandhi targeted the AAP leader drawing comparisons with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for following a “strategy of propaganda and false promises.”
The national capital is set to witness a three-cornered contest between the ruling AAP, the Opposition BJP and the Congress on February 5.
