New York: Dr Anthony Fauci, director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the most prominent face of the USA’s fight against COVID-19, feels that handshakes should be a thing of the past.
“I don’t think we should ever shake hands ever again… Not only would it be good to prevent coronavirus disease, it would probably decrease instances of influenza dramatically in this country,” Dr Fauci said in a Wall Street Journal podcast.
“When you gradually come back, you don’t jump into it with both feet. You say, what are the things you could still do and still approach normal? One of them is absolute compulsive hand washing. The other is you don’t ever shake anybody’s hands,” he added while speaking about how life could eventually start returning to normal.
