‘Doomsday Can Wait’: Akshaye Khanna’s Shukracharya Look From ‘Mahakali’ Takes Internet By Storm

Mumbai: Akshaye Khanna is set to make his Telugu debut with Prasanth Varma’s upcoming mythological film ‘Mahakali.’

The actor has already caught attention with his striking transformation as Shukracharya, leaving fans eager to see more of his character.

The makers have announced that the much-awaited glimpse of ‘Mahakali’ will be released on August 24.

The buzz around the film began after filmmaker Prasanth Varma and RKD Studios shared a cryptic social media post that read, “24th August – The End Begins.”

The announcement was accompanied by Khanna’s first look as Shukracharya.

In Hindu mythology, Shukracharya is regarded as the spiritual guru of the Asuras.

Khanna’s portrayal marks a significant departure from the characters he has played previously, and his first look has already generated considerable excitement online.

Khanna undergoes a striking transformation for the role, sporting a long beard, matted hair tied into a high topknot and distinctive tilak markings on his forehead.

His rugged, layered costume, paired with traditional jewellery and accessories, completes the intense and imposing look of Shukracharya.

The announcement has sparked a wave of reactions online, with fans praising Khanna’s transformation and expressing excitement for the August 24 glimpse.

One user wrote, “We’re NOT surviving bare-torsoed Akshaye 😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”

Another commented, “Doomsday can wait.. I am excited for this project more .. Akshay Khanna.”

A fan wrote, “This frame and look… Goosebumps…can’t wait to see AK in the avatar.”

One user called it a “Generational run for Akshaye Khanna,” while another wrote, “#Mahakali I have been looking forward to this film from Prasanth Varma, right from that fantastic first look.”

Earlier, in March, Prasanth had praised Akshaye on his birthday, highlighting the actor’s subtle and restrained approach to acting.

He wrote, “Happy Birthday #AkshayeKhanna sir, a true actor who proves that real talent doesn’t need noise. Effortless screen presence, powerful performances, and unmatched class always stand out. It’s an absolute honour working with you.”

Directed by Puja Kolluru and presented by RK Duggal, with Riwaz Ramesh Duggal backing the film under the RKD Studios banner, ‘Mahakali’ also features Bhoomi Shetty and Rohit Saraf in important roles.

Bhoomi is reportedly set to portray ‘Mahakali’ in the film, with her first-look poster having been unveiled in October 2025.
