Dos And Dont’s During Lunar Eclipse

Bhubaneswar: As the lunar eclipse holds religious significance and has an impact on the human body according to Hindu calendar, astrologers have advised people to practice the following during the period.

According to Kanhu Charan Mishra, a renowned astrologer of Buguda block in Ganjam district, it is auspicious for the people born in the moon sign of Leo (Simha), Virgo (Kanya), Libra (Tula), Scorpio (Bichha), Sagittarius (Dhanu) and Pieces (Mina) to witness the eclipse.

“During the lunar eclipse, taking any cooked food between 2.54 pm on Friday and 3.49 am on Saturday is strictly prohibited. Besides, there will be no rituals or puja of the Lords in the temples after 2.54 pm on Friday. The rituals would begin after 5.25 am on Saturday,” Mishra said.

He also said that the pregnant women must remain inside their house and chant the hymns of Lord Vishnu during the eclipse.

Talking about the observance of other practices, he said as per the Hindu almanac, people should refrain from travelling long distance for seven days from the day of the Lunar eclipse.

“If marriage has been fixed, it should be solemnized a day after the eclipse while the thread ceremonies should be performed three days later,” he pointed out.
