Bhubaneswar: It was a disappointing evening for the vocal fans at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday as Odisha FC suffered only their second home defeat of ISL 2024-25.
FC Goa rode a brace from Brison Fernandes to down Odisha FC 4-2.
Adding to the home team’s misery, their dependable midfielder Ahmed Jahouh was shown the red card in the final minute of play for a foul, and will miss at least one game.
Jahouh converted a penalty after 29 minutes to neutralise Brison’s 8th-minute goal. But nothing went right for the Kalinga Warriors thereafter.
Udanta Singh restored Goa’s lead in first-half injury time. Brison scored his second goal eight minutes after change of ends, while Odisha FC defender Amey Ranawade had the misfortune of putting the ball into his own net soon after to hand Goa a 4-1 advantage.
Jerry reduced the margin to 2-4, but there was very little time left for Odisha to bridge the gap.
It was the first time Odisha had lost at Kalinga Stadium since their season opener against Chennaiyin FC on September 14, 2024.
Odisha are currently in sixth place, with 20 points from 14 games.
