Raigarh/Bhubaneswar: Police on Tuesday produced former Brajarajnagar MLA Anup Sai and his driver Bardhan Toppo in a local court in Raigarh.
Raigarh Police have sought seven-day remand of the duo for further interrogation in connection with the murder of Kalpana Das and her 14-year-old daughter in April 2016. The hearing, however, has been deferred till Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, a team of Raigarh police led by a sub-inspector arrived in Bhubaneswar. The team went to the Biju Patnaik International Airport and interacted with the airport director VV Rao.
However, the airport director refused to divulge the details about the information sought by the police team. Rao only said that he had asked the police team to collect information from the airline managers.
The Raigarh SI also did not reveal details about the purpose of the visit.
According to airport sources, the police team had sought the flight details of Anup Sai from Bhubaneswar to other destinations.
Notably, Raigarh police have found during their investigation that the former MLA and Kalpana had taken several flights from Bhubaneswar to neighbouring states.
Meanwhile, another team of Raigarh police arrived in Brajarajnagar to collect information from locals regarding the double murder.
