Jharsuguda: Chhattisgarh Police are on the hunt for another accomplice of expelled BJD leader and former MLA Anup Sai, who was arrested on February 13 for the brutal murder of a mother-daughter duo in 2016.
His driver, Barman Toppo, has reportedly divulged chilling details of the horrific crime, which was carried out near Sakambari Plant of Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district.
Following his interrogation and subsequent arrest, Raigarh Police on Sunday took him to Hamirpur forest and recreated the crime scene.
According to police sources, apart from the Bolero, one more vehicle was used in the crime. Kalpana Das (32) and her 14-year-old daughter were first beaten to death with iron rods To conceal their identities, the bodies were then crushed under the wheels a Bolero and an Innova.
Raigarh SP Santosh Singh said that Toppo has admitted to involvement of more people in the double murder. “Basing on his revelations, police have launched a manhunt to nab another accomplice in the twin murders,” he added.
Toppo of Baghrachakka in Brajrajnagar was picked up from his residence on Saturday and arrested the following day.
Meanwhile, Sai has been sent to two weeks of judicial remand.
