Double Murder By Ex-Odisha MLA: Cops Claim Sufficient Evidence Against Accused

Raigarh: Chhattisgarh police on Thursday claimed that they have sufficient evidence against the former MLA of Brajarajnagar, Anup Sai, in the double murder of Kalpana Das and her 14-year-old daughter on May 7, 2016.

“We have sufficient evidence against the accused. Since this is a blind murder, we are collecting more evidence for the conviction of the accused. We want to conduct a narco test on the accused and hope the court will give us permission for it,” Bilaspur Range IG Dipanshu Kabra told the media here.

On Wednesday, Raigarh Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) had allowed police to take the expelled BJD leader Anup Sai on a three-day remand. It had sent Sai’s driver Bardhan Toppo to one-day police remand. Toppo was arrested on February 14 for his alleged complicity in the double murder.

To build a watertight case, a team of Raigarh police has been camping at Brajarajnagar to collect information from locals regarding the double murder.
