Cuttack: A man was arrested for allegedly killing his father and stepmother over a property dispute in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
Police said the incident occurred at the Old Jail Colony under the jurisdiction of Dargha Bazar police station in Cuttack.
The victims were identified as Deepak Kumar Das, an emplo
yee of Choudwar Jail and his wife Rita Rani Das. They were found dead in a pool of blood inside their house with multiple stab wounds.
Sources said accused Alok Kumar Das, only son of the deceased, had been embroiled in a dispute with his parents over property and financial matters. This dispute turned violent on Friday night, when Alok allegedly stabbed his stepmother first. He allegedly stabbed his father, Deepak, when he arrived at the scene.
After getting information, the Dargha Bazar police and a forensic team rushed to the site and initiated an investigation. The bodies were sent to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination, and the accused son, Alok, has been taken into custody.
