Double Role: Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia In Charge Of Steel Ministry Too

New Delhi: Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday took charge as Union Minister of Steel. The new role is in addition to his brief as Minister of Civil Aviation.

The five-term Madhya Pradesh MP — which includes four terms in Lok Sabha – steps in for RCP Singh, who resigned as Steel minister along with Minority Affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday, a day before completion of their Rajya Sabha terms.

The 51-year-old Scindia, who quit Congress and joined BJP in March 2020, served as Minister of State for Telecommunications, Posts & IT (2008); Minister of State for Commerce & Industry (2009); and Minister of Power (Independent Charge) in 2012 under the UPA governments.
