Bhubaneswar: Doubling of railway tracks in a stretch of Gorapur-Darliput section of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has been approved for operation.
Commissioner of Railway Safety (South Eastern Circle) Brijesh Kumar Mishra on Monday oversaw comprehensive inspections and trials crucial for operational safety and efficiency and gave his approval for commissioning.
The inspection was conducted under stringent security measures. Out of a total of 12.64 km, 2 km stretch under Waltair division of the ECoR is located in Andhra Pradesh, while the remaining stretch is in Odisha.
The inspection included track assessment on motor trolleys, evaluation of Darliput and Gorapur railway stations, scrutiny of new signaling systems, and examination of two newly constructed major bridges and 28 minor bridges. Further, speed trial was successfully conducted on the newly laid line, affirming readiness for operational deployment.
Mishra was accompanied by Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager Waltair; D Srinivas Rao, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction); Sudhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM (Infra); Ashok Kumar, Chief Bridge Engineer; DK Mallik, Chief Signaling Engineer and other senior officials.
The completion of this doubling project in Darliput- Gorapur region of KK line is expected to facilitate enhancement of traffic transportation in this line.
