Khurda: Former Khurda MLA Jitu Mitra and his family members landed in a soup after a dowry torture case was lodged against them at Town police station here.
In the complaint, Jitu’s daughter-in-law alleged that he, his wife, daughter and younger son harassed her over dowry.
Jitu’s eldest son had tied the knot with the victim last year. He is working abroad.
“The former legislator’s daughter-in-law had come to the police station with her baby aged about one and half months old on September 15 and lodged an FIR against her in-laws. A case in this regard has been registered under Section 498 of IPC and investigation into the matter is underway,” informed SP (Khurda) Dipti Ranjan Ray.
Notice has already been issued to the victim’s in-laws, the SP added.
