Dreaded Criminal Nabbed After Encounter In Berhampur

Berhampur: A dreaded criminal was injured in an encounter with police at Tamana ghati area under Sadar police limits in Berhampur of Ganjam district on Wednesday.

The criminal, identified as Kuna Behera, sustained bullet injuries in his right knee and was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.

A pistol and two bullets were recovered from his possession.

According to police sources, a joint team of Sadar and Golanthara police conducted a raid and spotted the criminal roaming in the locality. When the police team attempted to nabbed him, he opened fire on it. The cops retaliated in which Behera sustained bullet injuries and fell down.

A number of criminal cases are pending against him at different police stations of the state, sources added.
