Khurda: A dreaded criminal was arrested after a brief exchange of fire with police at Chhanagiri forest under Jankia police limits in Khurda district on Friday. He was identified as Silu Chhotray.
Receiving a tip-off regarding Chhotray’s presence in the forest, police conducted a raid. Sensing trouble, the criminal fired in the air and tried to escape. The cops retaliated in which he sustained bullet injuries on his right leg. He was overpowered by the police team and later admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
A number of criminal cases are pending against Chhotray at different police stations. He was involved in Odisha Gramya Bank’s Sarangadhara branch loot case in Nayagarh district on April 6, police sources informed.
