Drive-In & Doorstep Vaccination Stopped In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday asked the district collector and municipal commissioners to stop COVID drive-in and doorstep vaccinations.

In a letter, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Pradipta Mohapatra said that there is no provision in the guidelines framed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare such guidelines.

“As per Government of India guidelines, the session sites identified for the vaccination must have sufficient waiting area and observation rooms. Besides, as per the provisions, people getting vaccinated at the session sites should kept under observation for 30 minutes. But adhering to these guidelines will be difficult during the drive-in and doorstep vaccinations. As such vaccination drive being undertaken has a greater possibility of extensive damage of the vaccine doses, the district collectors and the municipal commissioners have been asked to stop these practices with immediate effect,” Mohapatra said.
