Rourkela: A Hyva truck driver was charred to death when the vehicle came in contact with a 11-KV live wire near Gitarani mines under Tensa outpost in Sundargarh district on Saturday.
The driver was unloading iron ore from the truck when the raised container came in contact with the 11-KV wire and caught fire. The driver was unable to escape and was charred to death, according to media reports.
Local residents informed the police, power officials and fire brigade. Tensa police arrived at the spot and are probing the incident. Meanwhile, electricity was cut off in the area for sometime.
The identity of the driver has not yet been ascertained.
