Driver Charred To Death As Vehicle Catches Fire In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A truck driver was charred to death as the vehicle, carrying 25 tonne cement from Jharsuguda, burst into flames after coming in contact with an 11kv electric wire at Dunguripali village in Odisha’s Balangir district.

According to sources, the incident took place when the driver climbed atop the vehicle to unwrap the tarpaulin in front of a dealer’s godown this morning. While untying the ropes, a three-phase cable snapped and fell on the truck. A fire soon engulfed the vehicle and he died on the spot. His identity is yet to be ascertained.

On being informed, Tusura police and the fire personnel reached the spot and doused the flames.
