Jaleswar: Driver and helper of truck had a lucky escape when the vehicle loaded with tea caught fire on NH-60 at Jaleswar in Balasore district on Friday.
According to reports, the helper of the truck noticed smoke emanating from the backside of the vehicle and asked the driver to stop it. While they were trying to figure out the source of the smoke, a passerby alerted them about flames coming out of the vehicle.
The truck was engulfed in flames by the time fire personnel reached the spot. Tea packets worth Rs 35- 40 lakh were completely gutted in the fire.
Investigation is underway to ascertain the reason of the mishap. However, faulty wiring is suspected to have caused the fire, police sources said.
