Sonepur: Driver and helper of a passenger bus were killed when the vehicle dashed against a truck near Haradkhol in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place on National Highway (NH) No. 57 near Haradkhol in the district when the bus carrying around 40 passengers was proceeding from Jeypore towards Cuttack.
The deceased have been identified as bus driver Dambrudhar Swain and helper Shibran Gaud.
Sources said the collision took place apparently after the bus lost balance near a sharp turn. While the driver and helper of the bus died under the impact of the collision, the passengers were stated to have escaped narrowly.
After getting information about the incident, a police team from Sonepur police visited the spot, seized the bodies and sent them for autopsy. Further investigation into the mishap is underway.
