Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has decided to deploy social distancing squads and drones to ensure strict enforcement of the lockdown guidelines, including mandatory use of masks, in the Odisha capital.
“The squads will be impose penalty on people not wearing masks and violating norms of social distancing at market places and other streets,” said Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi.
Owners of all shops and commercial establishments have been asked put in place social distancing measures or cough up fine up to Rs 500 for the violation.
According to the special regulation, both shopkeepers and buyers are liable for violating the social distancing norm.
Nearly 10,000 people have been fined in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for violating the lockdown norms in the last one month, sources said.
