Bhubaneswar: A drug addict was allegedly beaten to death at a rehabilitation centre in the city on Thursday night.
Police said the deceased, Akhaya Kumar Majhi, was undergoing treatment for his addiction at the rehab centre. He was a resident of Nayapalli.
According to Akhaya’s family, they had gone to the centre on Thursday night after getting information that he was ill. But Akhaya was already dead by the time they reached there and there were bruise marks due to beating on his body, they alleged.
Police have sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death and launched an investigation.
