Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police arrested an inter-state drug peddler from Guwahati with the assistance of its Assam counterpart.
The drug peddler was identified as Salim Ahmmed, a resident of Mantripukri at Imphal in Manipur. He was wanted by the STF in a case under NDPS Act, 1985, a press note said on Thursday.
In the case, contraband brown sugar weighing 1.335 kg, a car and other incriminating materials were seized from the possession of some accused persons in December 2022, while Ahmmed was the main accused in the racket.
Earlier two accused persons were arrested and forwarded to the court, while Ahmmed was absconding since the occurrence and was concealing his presence at Guwahati where a team of STF caught him.
The accused was brought on transit remand after producing in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro),Guwahati. Further investigation is in progress
