Rayagada: A drug peddler was apprehended and more than ten kg of ganja seized from him by Excise department officials in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, Excise department sleuths conducted a raid at the Rayagada bus stand and arrested the drug peddler. The peddler was arrested with 10 kg and 175 grams of ganja worth over Rs 1 lakh, sources said.
The accused has been identified as Nimai Barui (23) of West Bengal.
A case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused and he has been sent to judicial custody.
The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police had arrested a drug peddler from Boudh in Kalahandi and confiscated 143 kg of ganja last week.
