Balasore: Drug peddlers attacked policemen during a raid at Bidyadharpur village under Basta police limits in Balasore district on Friday.
According to sources, a joint squad of Cuttack Excise, Basta police and Balasore police raided a house at Bidyadharpur village and seized 2 kg of brown sugar, worth Rs 2 crore. Three drug peddlers, including a woman, were also arrested.
The raiding team, however, faced some resistance from the drug mafia. A policeman was injured and the jeep was damaged in the attack.
Efforts are on to nab the mastermind in this racket, police said.
Notably, over 10.5 kg of brown sugar have been seized and 72 peddlers arrested from Balasore district in last three months.
