Mumbai: Investigation in the drugs-on-cruise case, which saw Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan spending four weeks in custody, is on in full swing after Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) transferred the case from its Mumbai branch to the Delhi team.
“We had paid a courtesy visit to Mumbai Police Commissioner in connection with the probe. He has assured our team that they will give full cooperation and they will also cooperate with NCB in making the country drug-free,” NCB deputy director-general Gyaneshwar Singh, who arrived in Mumbai four days ago, was quoted as saying by ANI.
He informed that the agency has included seven witnesses in its investigation and collected electronic and documentary evidence.
The Delhi team has also visited the Cordelia cruise ship in an attempt to reconstruct the events that led to the raid on rave party aboard the Goa-bound cruise ship, Gyaneshwar said.
The probe was being headed by NCB Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede. But multiple allegations, including those of extortion, were levelled against him by Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, following which NCB decided to shift the case.
The Delhi team has recorded statements of 15 people, including prime witness Prabhakar Sail.
Sail, who worked as bodyguard for independent witness Kiran Gosavi, turned hostile and claimed to have overheard a conversation about an alleged payoff of Rs 25 crore involving Wankhede in connection with the Aryan Khan case.
Gyaneshwar said that this is an ‘important and challenging probe’, and the team is investigating it on priority.
“Some important witnesses are yet to be included in probe,,. After examining them, we’ll perhaps move towards a conclusion,” he said.
