Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of Bhubaneswar has seized narcotic drugs and parts of wild animals and arrested one person in this connection in Boudh district.
On the basis of intelligence input, a team of STF, Bhubaneswar with the help of Boudh police conducted a raid on the house of Sanatan Pradhan at Jhadarajing under Puruna Katak police station in the district on Sunday.
During the search, the STF team seized opium weighing 2.88 kg, ganja powder 3.81 kg, ganja cigarette 60 packets and other incriminating materials from the house. As Pradhan could not produce any valid document in support of the contraband, he was arrested and forwarded to the court, an STF release stated.
The STF has registered a case under NDPS Act, 1985 and further investigation is on.
The STF team also recovered a deer skin, turtle scale and a boar tusk and other incriminating materials in possession of Pradhan. As the accused could not produce any document in support of possession of the wildlife products, another case was registered under Wildlife Act.
Pradhan was previously working in Forest department and had taken voluntary retirement in 2008.
The STF has seized more than 72 kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gram cocaine and more than 116 quintal of ganja, opium 3.65 kg and arrested more than 179 drug dealers and peddlers since 2020.
