Cuttack: In the first such case, a man arrested for drunken driving will be taken to court on Saturday.
The accused, Rakesh Panda, was arrested at Nuabazar in Cuttack’s Chauliaganj area on Friday.
A police patrol team had intercepted Rakesh while speeding on his bike. A breath analyzer revealed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Police have also seized his two-wheeler.
Notably, following a directive from the Committee on Road Safety formed by the Supreme Court, Director General of Police (DGP) BK Sharma on Friday directed superintendents of police (SPs) to check drunken driving at 14 toll gates in Odisha.
