Balangir: At least 6 students of a primary school were hospitalised after a man in inebriated condition beat them up in Odisha’s Balangir district on Saturday.
As per reports, the man under the influence of liquor entered the Government Primary School at Bankel in Titlagarh block of the district in the afternoon. He started chasing the students without any provocation and beating them up.
As the students cried for help, the school teachers rushed to their help. They found it difficult to nabe the man as he continued to evade by running around the school campus. As the man created disturbance for an hour, tension prevailed in the campus.
Meanwhile, the school authorities informed the police. But by the time the police arrived, the drunk man had managed to flee the school.
At least 25 students were injured due to the beating by the man. The school officials admitted six of them in the hospital. However, their condition was stated to be stable.
The police have filed a case and started investigation to trace the man whose identity has not been ascertained.
