Mumbai: Incidents of passengers consuming too much liquor on board long-distance international flights are nothing new.
An inebriated passenger recently created ruckus on board, so much so that the Doha-Bengaluru flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport late on Saturday night, reported Hindustan Times.
The passenger, identified as Sarfuddin Ulwar from Kerala, was arrested and booked under IPC Code and Aircraft Act. He was produced in a metropolitan magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody.
According to police, the passenger allegedly misbehaved with an air hostess when she tried to stop him from drinking. He also allegedly abused fellow passengers who tried to intervene, and picked up a fight with them.
His violent behaviour forced the pilots to divert the flight and make an emergency landing at Mumbai.
Central Industrial Security Force personnel took custody of the man at Mumbai airport and handed him over to the police.
