Dabugaon: High drama ensued at Dabugaon in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district when a youth climbed atop a huge banyan tree in an inebriated state on Monday afternoon.
He refused to come down and threatened to jump off the tree when police and Fire Service personnel attempted to rescue him.
According to sources, the man, identified as Manas Nayak from Hatapadasahi, had left his house in a huff following an argument with his wife and on his way climbed atop the tree. When repeated cajoling went in vain, locals informed police.
However, they could do little and instead had to wait patiently for him to climb down the tree on his own after one and a half hours.
Manas was then detained and during his questioning, police found him to be drunk.
