Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy rain for two more days with a cyclonic circulation hovering over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
It further stated that conditions are favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from remaining parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; entire Jharkhand & Chhattisgarh and some parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha & Telangana during the next 3-4 days.
The weather agency has warned of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph in the districts of Koraput and Malkangiri on October 10.
Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal and Rayagada.
On October 11, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may continue at one or two places in Kalahandi, Rayagada and Koraput districts. Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur in the districts Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Malkangiri.
While there is no heavy rain warning thereafter, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts on October 12.
The state will then see a gradual return to dry conditions, it added.
