Cuttack: Odisha Police Service (OPS) probationers of 2015 batch on Saturday called on DGP Dr RP Sharma to the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack for their practical training.
As many as 14 OPS probationers (directly recruited DSPs) who are at the end part of their training had an interactive session with the DGP.
During the interaction, Dr Sharma called upon the officers to be diligent, dutiful, sincere and serious towards their profession and rise to the expectations of the public in the delivery of services.
He said the police have to face new challenges in the field. “There have been sea changes in the duties a policeman performs today. The duty of a police officer is no longer confined to law and order and crime management,” he said.
He also said that because of technological advancement, old ways of crime investigation has lost its value. The police now adopt scientific methods of investigation in difficult cases like cyber crime and economic offences. “All police officials have to be highly professional and technologically sound while discharging their duty on the field,” the DGP said.
