Bhubaneswar: Odisha opener Shantanu Mishra has been named in the East Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy.
The tournament will be played in Bengaluru from June 28 to July 16.
The 29-year-old Shantanu had a good run in last season’s Ranji Trophy, scoring an unbeaten double hundred and a century besides three 50s.
Another Odisha player Suryakant Pradhan, a medium-pacer, has been named as stand-by No. 1 for the Duleep Trophy, according to an Odisha Cricket Association press release.
The Duleep Trophy will kick off the 2023-24 season. It’s the earliest start to the Indian domestic season, which has never got underway in June.
With the south-west monsoon having arrived in the country, there is the possibility of rain disrupting some of the early-season matches.
