Bhubaneswar: A “dummy“ cyclone alert posted on the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner’s Facebook page created panic on Tuesday.
The message, part of statewide mock exercise, said “warning for Odisha coast” and “Severe Cyclonic storm HIKAA in East central Bay of Bengal”.
The dummy message predicted wind speed of 205-215 kmph, confusing several Facebook users. Others advised against posting such messages and creating panic through rumours.
Later the post seemed to have been removed.
