Berhampur: A group of people duped by chit fund firm ‘Datum’ reportedly broke open the branch office of the company at Kanisi in Berhampur of Ganjam district on Friday.
The duped investors, who were staging a demonstration in front of the office, barged into it after coming to know that the firm had downed shutters since more than a year.
Carrying placards and banners, the agitators alleged that the Ponzi firm collected lakhs of rupees from them on the promise of hefty returns, but failed to do so.
The district administration should take immediate steps to return their hard-earned money at the earliest, they demanded.
Following the incident, local police reached the spot and pacified the agitators on assurance that their grievance will be taken up with the authorities concerned.
