Paradip: A racket involving supply of duplicate motor and heavy machinery parts in different parts of the country was busted during a raid at a showroom at Paradip town in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
According to sources, a huge quantity of fake parts of motor vehicles and heavy machinery of a particular brand were seized during the search operation conducted at the engineering showroom located at Dochhaki area of Paradip.
The duplicate parts were stocked at the showroom and supplies to different places in the country. After getting information about the racket, the officials of a company conducted raids at the premises of two distributors in Kolkata and New Delhi. Details about the modus operandi adopted by the racketeers came to light during the raids.
Sources said three distributors were procuring duplicate parts from China and selling the fake products in India.
While original parts are priced between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000, the duplicate ones procured from China were sold at only Rs 700 to Rs 1,000.
Appropriate steps would be taken in accordance with the law following detection of the racket, police said.
