Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday allowed eight puja committees in Cuttack city and one committee in Puri town to perform Durga Puja.
These nine puja committees, which had made the idol of the Goddess more than 4 feet, were allowed to conduct the puja at their respective mandaps on the basis of a report by the Advocate General.
The court, however, made it clear that the administration will perform the immersion of the idols.
Notably, the state government had directed the puja committees to restrict the height of the idol to four feet. However, the puja committees had challenged the government order in the High Court.
