Bhubaneswar: It’s Dussehra and Bhubaneswar is ready to witness the burning large-scale effigies of Ravana accompanied by fireworks.
While special arrangements have been made by local administrations for smooth darshan of the Goddess at various pandals, permission has been granted to six puja committees– Jharpada, Baramunda, Naharkanta, Koradakanta, Chhatabara and Tamando – for conducting ‘Ravan Podi‘ Ustav in the city on Tuesday, marking an end to the four-day Durga Puja festivities.
Adequate firefighting arrangements has been done to prevent any mishap or untoward incident during the event, Deputy fire officer Abani Swain said.
A 100-ft effigy of demon king has also been prepared for the event at Daruthenga, on the outskirts of city.
With huge gatherings expected in and around the grounds where Ravana Podi event will be held, Twin City Commissionerate Police of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will be imposing traffic restriction in the city for crowd management.
