Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security arrangements for Durga Puja in Odisha’s Cuttack, Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi informed in a press meet on Saturday.
“At least 55 platoons of force, six police officers of ADCP rank, 40 officers of DSP rank, around 55 Inspectors, nearly 300 SI and ASI, 84 Havildars, over 600 Constables and Traffic Constables, 700 home guards, and more than 700 police volunteers will be deployed during the Durga Puja celebrations in the city,” said Priyadarshi.
Besides, 20 PCR vans, 3 special mobile vans, 40 bike PCRs and quick action teams will be deployed in the city during Dussehra.
“People who come to visit the pandals during Puja can be termed as ‘friendly crowd’ but there can be exceptions like intoxicated people creating scenes. Therefore, our directive to the police personnel is to behave well and be cordial. But, if any drunk person violates the law or creates a disturbance, the police will not hesitate to take appropriate action in accordance with the law,” he added.
Around 300 CCTV cameras, 31 aid posts for Dussehra and 14 aid posts for the immersion ceremony will also be put in place.
Notably, the Commissionerate Police has allowed the conduct of cultural programmes maximum up to midnight. On immersion night, high decibel music accompanying the procession will not be allowed after midnight, but the puja organisers can use traditional musical instruments.
