Kataka security arrangements for durga puja

Kataka: It’s that time of the year, and Kataka is all decked up and ready for Durga Puja 2026.

To ensure a smooth and peaceful Durga Puja celebration, the Commissionerate Police has drawn up an elaborate plan.

Sixty platoons of police personnel, 500 officers and two companies of CRPF will be deployed across the city to manage large pandal-hopping crowds, regulate traffic and prevent anti-social activities during the festivities from October 17 to 21, Kataka DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo informed on Friday.

A total of 57 aid posts have been set up and 1,300 CCTV cameras installed to help monitor the city and maintain law and order.

The deployment strategy and duties of police personnel were outlined during a briefing held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.

Around 170 Durga Puja mandaps have been set up across the city of Kataka. Thousands of people will visit the mandaps over the next five days.
